Instrument Panel/Dash
« on: June 28, 2020, 11:50:29 AM »
Hi Guys,

does anyone have a good clear photo of the layout of the Instrument Panel and/or dash of the Series 2A Suffix D GS 108". I am trying to sort out what switches go where & what are not required. If you have an "official" drawing or diagram that would suffice as well.

Cheers,

Barra

Hi Barra,

I should be able to help with this,

I’ll take some photos later today.

I am currently restoring a Suffix D 109, good timing!

Cheers,

Mike.

Barra, here are the instrument panels from 174-343, my 68 109 GS.

Apologies for the shadows.

I am hoping to install them on the vehicle this week, let me know if you need any further photos.

Cheers,

Mike.

All complete pretty much, the main instrument panel is missing the choke cable and it’s label.

Thanks Mike_K, that looks really good & nice clear shots. I have the LR Genuine Parts catalogue but it only show civvy models.
Cheers,

Barra

No problem Barra, happy to help.

Funny you should ask about the placards and the switch labels, a few years ago I ran a project to reproduce them all, as they were all unavailable for my restoration.

I do have some available if you need any for your vehicle.

Cheers,

Mike.

Mike, happy to buy off you if you have the following:

Trailer Flasher
Fuel Gauge (LH + RH Tank)
Wiper

Mine also has a placard (LH Door Ithink) that shows "Anchorage Vehicle Compliance....". Does yours have this?

I have ordered a new Engine Bay wiring harness as mine is in poor condition, vehicle runs but the rats nest of wiring will take some sorting. The previous owner installed spotties, Cb etc & now have extra wiring + switches. I just love how yours turned out.

Cheers,
Barra

Thanks Barra,

It didn’t look like that when I started!

Mine had a few dodgy civilian bits and pieces as well.

I’ll send you a personal message re the placards, should be able to work something out.

Is this the door placard you mean, on the bulkhead near the passenger door?

Barra, yes, my vehicle has this in the same spot as yours.

Seems to be only a Suffix D thing, my 1970 Suffix G vehicles do not appear to have ever had them.

The PMC assembly plant must have been doing a bit of future proofing here, as seatbelts were not required or fitted in 68, but the vehicles were delivered with the mounts for them.

Earlier you mentioned that you only have the Civilian parts catalogue, have you seen the Repair Parts Scale in the REMLR library?

mike,

tried to send an email to you but did not quite happen (my dumb fingers). Will take a set of decals/labels/placards off you + the Seat belt placard. How do you want me to pay?

Cheers,

Barra
