Factory paint colours

I'm interested in opinions of what the factory paint colours were for:

No1 Mk3
Rocker cover
Engine head
Engine block
Sump
Main gearbox

My vehicle has a mixture of different colours, including gold ? On the engine.

I'd like some feedback on other vehicles which may not have been rebuilt.

If I can't decide what was original I may just go with duck egg blue

A Mk 3 should be gold. The engine was AGD 282 Australian Gold Diamond 282. Rebuilt engines could be almost any colour, which adds to the confusion. For a Mk4 the engine was 6-282. This was painted red. the gearbox was usually the same colour as the engine. When dealing with these trucks expect the unexpected. There always seems to be an example of a non conformist!

The rocker cover on my MK3 was gold, then had army olive drab over that.
The engine sump was red.
The block and head were a sort of faded olive drab, but it's not the same paint as on the body. It's much harder wearing.



The bellhousing, gearbox, transfer case and winch were the dark green of the earlier era vehicles, with several coats of the more recent olive drab over the top. Usually over layers of mud and grease too.

I will have to do a rethink as I thought I was hallucinating that my engine was gold Amd the rust and dirt.

So - gold it is !
