A Long Shot
« on: November 22, 2019, 09:49:00 AM »
Does anyone either own, or know of someone in Western Australia who owns, a 1969 Series 2 long wheel base Land Rover.

James would like to be put in contact with anyone who owns a hard top Series 2 similar to the one his dad owned (colour irrelevant) who would be willing to park it in his dads driveway for half an hour on the 1st of December (happy to cover any costs, fuel etc, tea and biccies included!)

James contacted the VCCWA and advised his Dad and 3 friends left Manchester, England on the 30th November 1969 in one of these vehicles (a Chrome Yellow one to be precise) and drove east through Europe, the Middle East and India, arriving in Perth (via car ferry, from India) on the 20th of June 1970

His Dad sold the car soon after arriving in Perth and James was hoping that if such a car still existed in Perth.  He hopes to be able to arrange something his Dad the 50th anniversary of the start of his trip.

If interested the details he has on the car are: ex-military 1969 Land Rover, Series 2, 12 seat long wheel base model, originally painted Army Green and repainted for the trip to Chrome Yellow with a white roof and matt black bonnet.

Just to be clear, at this point, James is chasing ANY Series 2 Land Rover that would be a very close match to the one his father drove in,
He would be very grateful.  It really is just a chance for his Dad to see one again and have a trip down memory lane.
