Not so rare, nor all that expensive - I bought one new from the US 10 years ago and it was $550 AUD delivered.  Not sure of availability these days but I guess the $808 being asked is OK if it is OK.

You will find out what it is when you take the cover off. It could possibly be a bolt has come out of the crownwheel carrier and caught against the housing. When this happens the hi tensile bolt snaps and the head flies through the back cover letting all the oil out. Interesting what you said about only having drive to one wheel. That should only happen if there is a locker in there and it is engaged. Otherwise the differential effect would give you no drive to either wheel. Let us know what you find.

This is in the FC 101 section not a 109 section, you might want to post your issues in the correct area.

I apologise, I didn’t realise this section was off limits to me so I’ve deleted my comments.

Not so rare for me. I'm constantly ripping over a couple new in boxes
As Gary says, they were about $550 new.

I don't think they are still being produced but they is a very limited market.

This section is not off limits to you - just not the section to post your quite relevant comments concerning your vehicle that is not a 101.

Cheers

Garry

They do go well in the back of a 101 with few vices.  These are are cheap way to get a locker capability in a 101.

Hi Garry,

I only posted the information as I figured it may have been relevant to anyone thinking of using a Detroit Locker.

The differences between the Salisbury 109 rear differential Detroit Locker, as opposed to that of the 101, don’t appear to be vastly different, at least not to my eye.

I get what you’re saying though.

Regards,
Ross.
