110 Insect screen
« on: February 23, 2019, 03:38:53 PM »
G'day All,
Can someone tell me if I'm correct, I recently bought an Insect screen from a well known supplier, I can't get it to fit at all, my 110 grill is 780mm wide, the screen supplied is 950mm wide, ? would that be for the 6x6 purpose built wide cabs as fitted to the 6x6, and also would anyone have good images of how the elastic strap is used, from what I can see it must go around the front section of the chassis and loop back up somehow onto the bottom of the screen, anyway thanks in advance cheers dennis

Def supplied you a 6x6 which is more pricey, about 48 more I think.

I used thick bungee and thick cable tie. It was a while back so i can't recall much until i get home and look at it.

AFAIK Dennis, mine and other RFSVs have lift-over locks on the pins that go through the eyelets in the screen - that's all (no bungees or cords).

It does sound like you have a wide body (6X6) screen; if it was a reputable business you got it from they should be happy to change it over for a standard version with hopefully , a cash adjustment.

You've probably already turned up your own fittings Dennis, but this was our quick fix.

ed -For the top, put in a few bolts, m6(?), and flatfile/round off the head.

Where that screw is in Ross' photo there should be a stayput.

The RFSV uses stayput fittings similar to these on both the top and bottom of the insect screen.  You can pick them up at marine stores.
From memory the base is different and they bolt through the top of the grill rather than attach with the T piece but havenät checked so could be wrong.

Stayputs are in stock at most canvas makers as they usually do caravan annexes with them.
