Moving along as you do, cause if you don't it doesn't happen, but I knew I would not be able to do this job at home, I knew what had to be done, but it was the lifting of the diff whilst laying on my back underneath the vehicle that was the part I knew I was incapable of, so I made arrangements with Murray Rumbel (Modern Mtrs Dungog) to have the job done there.
I had picked up another diff from Justin Pollard about a week ago, so yesterday morning early I was off to Dungog to have the job done, I arrived at 0815hrs, but with the usual movement of vehicles n tractors it was around 0900hrs before it went up on the hoist (they have 3 hoists) I had earlier in the week gone to 4WD industries in Maitland and picked up a Salisbury diff seal, and then onto Hi-Tensile bolt to get 20 3/8"UNF Nyloc nuts, so all the nyloc nuts would be replaced as the jobs were being done, here it is with the front diff out

the oil that came out was a tremendous rainbow colour, which was assumed that the particles suspended in the oil were part of the pinion bearing which was causing the noise, I helped out doing n holding things but LOL I was probably a hinderance as I was under the vehicle with a torch checking all manner of things, anyway Harold had the replacement diff up in place in no time

and I'm dis-appointed you can't see the shiny new nyloc nuts LOL, the Salisbury seal was removed and at some stage in it's past life the drive flange for the diff has had a 'speedi-sleeve' fitted, a quick polish on the lathe made it smooth, I didn't leak on the 90k drive home so fingers XX'd

anyway that was part of my day yesterday cheers Dennis
