RE: Desert paint scheme
« on: July 14, 2018, 11:59:25 AM »
Hello, I am just considering painting the FFR I have in a desert colour scheme (eg from Afghanistan) and am asking on whether there is a specific colour scheme by the ADF and if there is what is the paint colour numbers and design. It could be that those colours I have seen on 6x6s are SAS, is there a differentiation between SAS and regular army vehicle setup and colour schemes?

Hi

Protec camo Brown. Protect camo Tan. The brown is standard and readily available, the Tan will be a special order but you should do it for you.  I'll put up the code tomorrow.

Cheers.
Scott

If that is the cream-like colour you will need a police certificate to buy it unless the rules have changed in the last year.

Someone once posted on REMLR, that you tell Protec that you want the same colour, NOT the restricted super-dooper paint the Army uses. At that point the sales staff calm down and become helpful,

There is another thread on the forum about this. The guys at protec at smeaton grange say they can sell the semi gloss in any colour but the matt paint needs a DOD contractor no. I cant tell the difference between matt and semi gloss when they are side by side.   :)

Could you buy semi and then add a matting agent? I seem to remember a matt powder to be mixed in/churned. (20 yrs ago)

Hi Scott, can you please post the paint numbers for me? This will help with my first visit to Protec.
