Generator (really its an alternator) 28v 2920-66-095-0364
« on: June 03, 2018, 06:22:01 PM »
Hello all.

I appear to have one of these type of alternators that is not charging.

I am assuming that replacements are not to be found?

Would anyone have a copy of EMEI Electrical P 412 please?

A scan would be fine, but photocopy etc will also do, happy to pay photocopy cost and postage.

Regards
Doug

Welcome to our forum Doug :)

I'm not sure if it assists with your problem, but I have found that it will not charge a "dead" battery - there needs to be at least one battery in the system with some charge in it.

The EMEIs are avaiable on the remlr.com site.

Dugitte. Hello and thanks for that, I will search for them. I am predicting that the diodes are blown.  That being the case, hopefully I can source them somehow, but do need to verify that first. Regards

Perhaps the one you're looking for may be P414-2, specific to the 28v generator ?

Reference within afm safety docs

If you get a copy it would be good to add it to the library

Turned the shed over to have a look for you.

I have a detailed 24volt FFR system wire diagram if you need it.

The same CAV generator was also fitted to the Series III FFR and was also fitted to large Prop aircraft late 60's-70's.

As mentioned before have you confirmed its not working to a good battery and the fuses in the dist Box are all good and have a open reading on a meter? The CAV wont produce power unless its Tripped/excited by 24 volts through the output wires.

Its doing my head in as I'm sure I have a wire diagram for the CAV around?

If its out you could get it bench tested.

Good luck with it.

FWIW I found with "dead" batteries that temporarily wiring a good 12v battery in parallel with one of the "dead" batteries was enough to trip the CAV :)

Hi Doug, off topic, but I heard you were at Corowa this year? Your gallery is going great... http://www.owningtanks.com
If you were there I would feel bad that I missed you. Would be good to meet you after all this time.

Phil

My ISP will let through emails up to 25mb! But say that the limit is 10mb. Maybe they are just trying to keep the traffic lower. However, if your ISP will let you send a 6mb email, it should come through to me fine.

Give it a try please?

I just tried a google search but the only location for a download was a vehicle repairers association and that required membership.

Doug

Carzee. Would you be Ross?

No I wasn't at Corowa, could not get there. Miffed that I missed seeing the 5' diameter search light in operation. Did get to see the 3' one back in 2015 IIRC. Really pleasing that group in Newcastle are so keen and keep them operational.

Good also to see that the sale of surplus Landies has brought many new people into the hobby.

Doug

Ok Geoff Iíll do that.

The document doesnít seem to be hosted online anymore with no search results to the file name or Publishers references. If it is found appropriate and useful Iím more than happy to contribute something back to REMLR for sure.

Cheers Phil
