It does, unusual to see a 2a gs in a camp scheme.  Looks original.  I wonder if the vehicle had a specific use that kept it in service longer...

when i purchased it from Albury nsw, it had a canvas over the cab...which made me think perhaps a fire truck?? :/

The canvas for the Quell Fire Fighting Unit ( the cab that is ) is totally unique to that configuration of vehicle.

I cant comment on the chance of it being a ex Quell unit, and I would have thought the GS units that were tasked with carrying these units were just that GS units, with the addition of the unique truck cab canvas.  However if yours came with such a canvas then its very likely it could have been a Quell unit, check for the Quell unit mounting points and possible wear in this area.

That is a good start, but not the only alternative.

Line layer vehicles alsy had the cabs sometimes, and I'm sure I have a photos of one in a camo scheme somewhere (may have been a series 3). They had extra frame work that attached to the back of the tub and front of the firewall I think.  Also I think reels were bolted on to the floor at the back.  I've attached a photo of a Series 3 line layer for reference.

 Not sure when the drop in fire units stopped being used though. But they did not have tailgates.  I don't think it bolted to the tub either.

This is gettng very interesting  ;D These brackets are neatly welded and bolted to the rear crossmember of the chassis...perhaps an extension for the line layer   ???
