Another trip to Blighty has come and gone. Too soon its all over and gone again. Similar to last year, the weather was fine thru-out.
We arrived in good time from our FUP at Ball Park Corowa. As the afternoon sun got lower and lower the cold drinks flowed and after dark the meals and chat continued late. Sometimes pubs can get busy unexpectedly and this Thursday evening the hotel -for some some reason- became very busy. Even after hours when the team got into their swags some... nevermind.
On the return trip this year there was another mech breakdown in the Blighty carpark and another first-thing-in-the-morning delay similar to the Blighty trip last year. Nevertheless the Blighty group (less the 3 Series 2As from Victoria) made it to the photoshoot at Lowesdale on time.
Approaching the Lowesdale grounds entrance as we headed toward Corowa, it appeared the convoy expected from Corowa had not yet arrived and our Blighty convoy continued on toward Corowa instead of stopping. Mick wanted to find them and guide them. After about 2km the north direction and south direction convoys passed each other (the Blighty convoy had found the Corowa convoy). I wish I had had a dash cam switched on for that moment. The lines of Ex-Military Land Rovers, all with headlights switched on, in convoy, passing each other. A little unforgettable. The southward (Blighty) convoy waited for a break and then did u-turns and followed the northward convoy back to the Lowesdale grounds entrance.
Pics: the Blighty postcard, the carpark scene, and cats-eye burrs, to scale.
