Weight of RFSV for Rego' Please
« on: January 24, 2018, 08:34:28 PM »
My RFSV is now roadworthy and and I am taking it for registration this Monday but what I need for the Vic Roads form is its unladen weight and the GVM when laden.

Anyone that can help please let me know as it could avoid some heartache.

GVM will be on its compliance plate, either 3200kg or 3600kg.
I think you will have to take it to a registered weighbridge and get a weight printout to prove its unladen weight.

Thanks Eric,

I am fairly sure the unladen weight is 2200 but I never thought of looking on the compliance plate but I looked everywhere else.

And as per THIS THREAD, some people have removed ancillaries from RFSV's when presenting at the weighbridge to reduce the rego cost.

2740kg would be the weight with 2 spare tyres, side cariers, tyre carriers, canvas top etc.  If the state you are in charges rego based on unladen weight like WA, you can legally take all these off and get the unladen weight down to at least 500kg less than that.   I was advised that in WA you can take off everything not legally required to be on it when it is weighed.  Mine came in at 2.28t, you could possibly do better by removing a few more more bits eg the  winch.

Thanks for all the help everyone, I am taking it over tomorrow afternoon and will post an update in my introduction post if all goes well.

EDIT: Went to Vic Roads today, quick and painless and I was out of there in no time, see my intro thread for my pre planned number plate choice.
