Can anyone with a very long memory, or paperwork from the 1950s and 1960s help identify the vehicle and dismounted batteries used in FFR Austin Champs and First Land Rovers?
I'm restoring an Austin Champ to FFR standard and the B vehicle installation documentation in both vehicles, for both British and Australian use shows the British battery case shown in photos and documents attached. However, due to Australia's local content policy at the time, Champs at least came here with wooden wheels and other parts that were exchanged for local sourced components.
I am sure that the batteries were treated similarly. I'm therefore asking for help in identifying what batteries were fitted to initial shipments of Champ and Landys to Australia. Dimensions, photos, diagrams or even anecdotal comments would all help outfit my Champ as delivered to Australia, and provide some more info for Land Rover enthusiasts.
