available new and generic from the U.K.  Be a little careful with non genuine as they don't always rivet the post correctly and the arm is loose and vibrates,

Thanks Diana but I am after the actual military ones that are used on 6bys and RFSVs and SRVs

They have different hinges where it attaches to the firewall.

Thanks

The wolf (extended) mirror arms are actual military ones they were fitted to the UK MoD Wolf Land Rovers, but I would be interested to see how the hinge attachment differs on the Aussie Perentie 6x6 and RFSV etc.

This is a Wolf

Hi Diana,

As I'm getting my SRV SF back to Afghanistan spec I don't need mirrors at all but I do need the original mirror for driving on the road!, the RPS has this diagram, I'll see if I can dig up a real photo as well.

Hi Scott

Thanks for that image and I can now see the significant differences, but I'm assuming that it is unique to the SRV with the 6X6 and RFSV using the standard Wolf arms?

Might be a little like looking for a pair of hen's teeth.  I did see you had an offer of a loan but in the absence of the genuine SRV items had you considered adapting something to suit?

My suggestion would be to get a pair of the Wolf arms and then using a length of 25mm x 6mm flat bar or similar around 140mm long. Drill and tap one end to match the holes in the hinge and then drill clearance holes to match the threaded mounting holes in the mirror arm. You then bolt the bottom end of bar to the hinge and then bolt the Wolf arm to the other side of the bar.

You could make the bar longer to lift the mirror higher, but the longer flat bar may need to be thicker eg 8mm-10mm to reduce potential vibration.

Just a thought!

Diana

No, 6x6 and RFSV are the same (as the SRV). That drawing is a bit off, but it gives the idea.

Yes they're all the same but totally different from the English ones, the drawing is from the RPS!

I might take up the offer to borrow the pair and the see if I can fabricate similar to what Diana is talking about with a real pair to use as a template.

I thought the SRV (SF)s were non compliant with Australian design rules and couldn't be Road registered?

Some minor alterations, not much. I know of a couple on NSW and two in Vic.

I modified a pair of Wolf arms to use on Gog. (The image isn't real good) but what I did was cut off the bottom of the internal tube, slotted the side of the housing, then slipped the SIIB hinge through the slot glued the two housings together with 2 part epoxy glue (tape), then inserted the original spring and clamped it up with a new stepped washer and a stainless socket headed cap screw.

You may be able to use the Wolf arm, but fabricate the SRV hinge bracket and affix the top of the Wolf bracket to your bracket and clamp it up in a similar method to Gog's.
