174 444 Restoration
« on: May 12, 2017, 08:37:27 PM »
So it begins, the awesome task of restoring the old girl to her former glory.
This is basically as I bought her. I have however put my old Disco wheels on her.
The motor is the original from the vehicle, 90% of the electrics work but it appears there a few items missing.

Very good. This is the great find with all the SVN reports isn't it, and the photos show its all there. Excellent for 40+ years old!

A bit of a survivor this one,

I'm looking forward to seeing it come back to life. :)

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.
Yes Mick, this is the one with all the history and pics you posted up.
Also, yes, I will be keeping the hardtop for now, this will be my daily driver once finished so there will be some little changes from militayr spec to make her a little more practical for daily use. I will however eventually replace the hard top with a canvas top.

Today the top came off and the tub all undone ready for removal, fuel tanks out.
Will post pics tomorrow.

Sean.

So, I found this little mo-fo tucked away in the little alcove on the passengers side of the dash board. scratched some of the green paint off with my finger nail and...VOILA!!!

Hi guys,
Update time, so I've pulled most of the body off, only firewall and radiator support panel to go.
Hit the old girl with degreaser and the gurney.
Looking good, nice and tidy. It looks like the chassis has been patched in one spot only, directly below the radiator expansion tank overflow....
