New project - Inter placards
« on: April 28, 2017, 10:12:02 AM »
Following on from our Land Rover placard project, I have been asked by a few people if it is possible to re make the Inter placards?

From what I have seen, these have not survived as well as some of the Land Rover ones, and most of them are in fairly average condition after 50 years or so.

Here are some MK 4 placards as an example.

This should be no problem, we have so far produced the artwork for the F 2 Tipper and the MK 4.(All of the placards for both vehicles)

Is there anyone who is interested in a set of these for their truck?

We can do a set for the MK 3, or the F 1 if required, as we will do these in one run (to save stuffing our printer around), let me know now.

As per the Land Rover placards, they will be reproduced as photo etched aluminium placards, exactly as they were drawn up originally.

The cost should come to somewhere between $125 - 150 for a full set for one vehicle. This is subject to confirmation from the printer, I will have a definite figure once we have an indication of interest and have a firm price from them.

Let me know by replying here, or via pm.

Cheers,

Mike.

I don't need them but, if they are available, I might as well grab a set for a Mk3.

Should be no problem Mick.

What do you have in mind?

The best way is if you are able to send me the original, that way we can copy it perfectly. You will definitely get it back. :)
If it is something simple, a photo should do, with some exact measurements (length, width and hole spacing).

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Mike.
I'd like a set of any that you plan to get made that will suit my F1.
Below is a pic of the ones I have, all in poor condition.

If you would like any of these to use as templates, let me know and I can post them to you.

Something to make note of is the difference with the fuel tap plate and the one over the switch panel is that the F1/F2 have Front & Rear tanks, whereas the MK3/4 have Left and Right.

Another thing is that the F1 & F2 have a different gear shift pattern to the MK3 & 4, unless they have had a gearbox switch. I see that your placard for the gear change pattern shows the layout for the non-syncro boxes on the F1/F2.

I also have the plates specific to the F1's with the Abbey cranes if you would like them to copy. Admittedly, not many people would have a use for them, as I think only myself and STDIVER have one, but if you ever think of doing a run, I'd love a set.

As you can see, the plates are pretty big, and mine are almost illegible in the photo.
Saying that though, after some careful cleaning, I was able to clearly make out the detail on the long plate and I photoshopped the detail on the pic below.

Oh, while taking off these plates, I made a really interesting discovery about my truck, but I'll post about that in my thread later. House inspection on Tuesday, so I have lots of cleaning up and moving of truck parts to do.

Greg.

G'Day Greg,

We will add yours to the list.

While we are running the print job, we might as well do your crane ones as well.

I did actually mix the placards up in my photo, it does show the F 2 one by accident.

I will send you a pm, if you could send some of them up that would be very helpful.

I am also after some good photos of the MK 3 placards if anyone can help?

Cheers,

Mike.

Mike,

Photos of M3 placards attached, these are out of the user manual, actuals have black background with white lettering with the exception of the winch and gearbox placards which have the WARNING in red, the photo of the ID placard is interesting "TRUCK,CARGO, 2- ton, GS",  I think the actual plate is 2 1/2 ton would be good for someone to check. I have a spare MK3 winch and gearbox placard you can have if needed to copy.

Hi Mike

I think you'll find the Mk3 one is the same as the Mk4 one with the Mk changed.

I'd be interested in a pair of the centre of gravity ones.

Given that I have an Isuzu box, would you be able to do a gearbox instruction plate with the Reverse and 1st swapped?

Have attached an old image of my Mk3 ID plate

Diana,

No problem with the CG plates, I'll add you to the list.

Is the Isuzu gearbox conversion very common? I will send you a PM regarding this.

From what I have seen, the MK 3 placards have the WARNING script in red text on the WINCH and GEARBOX placards while the MK 4 do not. (I think).

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Mick

No I don't think its common, my truck was converted to Isuzu 6BB1 by the NSW RFS and they basically took the Isuzu engine and its mated Isuzu gearbox and plonked it in place of the IH engine and Turner box.  That way there's no adapter plate problems, just a replacement jack-shaft and move the Isuzu shift to the Inter.

If you go ahead with Mk3 ID plate put me down for one of those too.

Diana

I think I'm fairly happy with the Isuzu, on a recent trip fully loaded with a fully loaded Haulmark PT1-1.2 trailer in tow from Glenorie, up Bellbird Hill Kurmond via Bell Line of Road to Lithgow and return the truck returned 11.24MPG (25.11L/100Km).  How does that compare with the 282 petrol?

Any chance of reproducing one of these?  I don't have the exact dimensions only a couple of images.
