Correct steve. Got the idea off a guy at work. can also hook ramps to the angle iron in future if necessary.

How are you going to clad it? Thin sheet pop riveted on? I reckon gal sheet would work a treat.

Definitely over engineered. A typical boilermakers project  haha. I'll be sheeting it wih 5mm aluminium and large rivets. Possibly countersunk and seams welded.

Again, overengineering.
The Crump & Cornish tub is only made of about 1.6 aluminium sheet. The Track is made of thinner Gal sheet. The BAE systems is made of thin sheet to, 1.2 maybe.

Just a quick update, i got the trailer back from the galvanisers last week, cost a small fortune,
For those asking about weight, I weighed the trailer with a scale we hook onto our crane, total weight with axles and wheels was around 450kg, galvanising added 40kg and I'm using 3mm aluminium checker plate so im probably looking at tare weight of just over 500kg.
So far ive cut and riveted the sheets on, welded all the seams and ive rotated it and painted the underside.
Next step will be to fit the axle springs and wheels and run the wiring for lights and brakes, then i will turn it again and paint the tub and sides, I'm hoping to have it ready for reg by my next rostered day off and I'll book it in up in seamore where its not busy.

Yes i was worried about weight to be honest, but comparing to a no5 at about 360kg  with 500kg payload and a haulmark at about 450kg with 750kg payload from what ive read, 500kg tare doesnt sound so bad. Its over engineered no doubt but its strong and will outlast me which is exactly what i wanted.
