Norforce landcruiser

In the attached photo off a sad looking Norforce Cruiser ,Is the rack on the rear section for carrying  a boat and if so how was it attached and does anyone know what type,brand boat they used. Second off all does anyone have photos off boats mounted onto any Norforce vehicles .

The boats are a strengthened 3.8 & 4.4m tinnies.

They are auctioned off occasionally, but not really that many about.

I had the impression Norforce used inflatable dinghys, maybe they have tinnies and inflatables both?

I only ever attended one end-of-AFX BBQ/presentation or similar (Larrakeyah lines). The Land Cruisers were long gone, there were LR RFSVs around the place... but one of the memorable things -besides the swimming pool- was that three or four Norforce members were moving around awkwardly with one oar/paddle per member, worn inside their uniforms, down their pant leg and up their shirt. The blade of the oars appeared from under their collars of the back of their shirts and stuck out above their heads if you can imagine it. We heard these members were "learning not to drop the oar overboard".

Are you sure the racks were 'in service' and not post-service? They seem the wrong shape and location for boat racks, too far down he sides of the roof. If army mods, then I'd guess they were cam pole (bamboo) holders.
I joined 51FNQR in LAte '89 and we still had the LC for a couple of years. Never had boats at Platoon/ patrol level back then. It was only after we received the Perenties that the patrol allocation of boats came. First 2x 3.8m Quintrex/ patrol on the roof racks for inshore work. Pretty sure these had a Johnston 25 on the back. about12monthls later (IIRC) we received the 4.2m Stacers, 1 per Patrol, on trailers. These had a 40Horse motor. Usually economical, but with a full patrol load and heavy seas, we could have done with 60s! In recent year, the Zodiac rubber-ducky has been supplied.
They are easy to spot at auctions due to addition of lifting lugs low on the floor/ gunwale bracing. They also got a floor when most civvy ones I've seen are bare.

Thank you for the information ..I did consider cam pole holder as the rack does 'nt look strong enough to hold a boat .Out off interest where were the outboards stored in the Landrover as I presume there was not to room with all the gear they carried .
