Quick fix needed for canvas & windscreen problem
« on: January 07, 2017, 11:15:17 AM »
Driving home a couple of days ago in the heat and all vents open, I just happened to look up and could see not only light coming through between the top of the windscreen and the edge of the canvas, but of course a serious blast of air as well (;->

Ok, I'm really busy at the moment with another project that I have to finish so I don't have the time to sit down and research what is probably a simple fix and reason for this to happen, so I'm hoping someone might know of the reason why this did come about and how to fix and stop it happening again.

Obviously I'm going to have to fix this before I drive anywhere as this is putting quite a bit of strain on the existing seal that's still working, so any ideas/knowledge regarding this is most welcome.

Did you know that 2 to 3 glasses of wine per day can reduce your risk of giving a s##t!

Simple 5 minute maintenance job.

The rope track clamp onto of the windscreen has come loose. Undo the cam locks put the canvas rib back in, tighten up the cam lock a turn or two and clamp it down again.

Cheers

Thanks FFRMAN,
I've just come inside from deck painting and saw your helpful answer.
Yes, I thought and hoped it would be simple, but having never had to do this before it's great that someone is able to point you right to the fixit solution.

Much appreciated (;->

I had this problem a few times. The rubber tubing sewn into the canvas to lock it into the top of the windscreen flattens out and can then pull through. I fed some telstra cable I had through the tube to stop it collapsing and no more problem.

B52's is the one to go with, anything that stops the pipe squashing flat works perfectly and is a permanent fix.  I used a couple of small pieces of dowel, but only because they were handy.  A cable would be a better solution.
