I really enjoyed the trip this year, it was great to catch up with everyone over a few quiet ales...The drive up with the 2 inters was fun, we made a bit of an impact as we went, and helped out the local fuel suppliers and auto electricians as well!I agree Mick, it would have been a bit of a mission recovering Pauls truck from the Whitfield road, but the feed at the pub was worth it, looking forward to doing it again next year with Land Rovers. The caravan park was very crowded, hopefully we can find somewhere better next year, it was a bit disappointing to have someone knock off my camp chair as well.Blighty was a highlight as already mentioned, much cooler than Corowa. And thanks for showing me your new photos of the early LRPVs in service Mick, lots of great detail - I havent seen that gun mount in the tub before, I wonder why they changed it it looked very comfortable!Looking forward to 2018, the year of the Land Rover, I've got some work to do!Cheers,Mike.
I have an updated list of military vehicles since looking back at our list and finding some discrepancies. The total vehicles is 223 plus 6 bicycles. The total number of carriers is 14 including 2 LP1's, 1 British 3inch Mortar Carrier and 2 Strickland's. The total number of Land Rovers were 41. The total number of Jeeps was 74 plus 6 GPA's. I have gone back through the vehicle lists since 2008 and have compared the number of Land Rovers to Jeeps. You might want to spread the word that next year is Year of the Land Rover otherwise it will end up looking more like Year of the jeep if their numbers are higher. There are people already planning to bring their Jeeps so the Land Rovers may not outnumber them.2008 - Land Rovers 23 and Jeeps 582009 - Land Rovers 22 and Jeeps 452010 - Land Rovers 24 and Jeeps 1802011- Land Rovers 49 and Jeeps 652012 - Land Rovers 19 and Jeeps 662013 - Land Rovers 25 and Jeeps 712014 - Land Rovers 32 and Jeeps 842015 - Land Rovers 40 and Jeeps 792016- Land Rovers 30 and Jeeps 812017 - Land Rovers 41 and Jeeps 80these numbers also include GPA's
Mick - Excellent photos - thanks mate - couldn't get there this year but appreciate the effort you have taken to post them - Next Year ... convoy from the south through Hamilton?Frank
This convoy concept sounds like a great idea! Lets think of getting a plan in place - time is on our side!I am happy to start planning leg one (the easy part)! Might even bring the mobile field kitchen! Frank
