Hi Dennis,

I'm not quite sure but I thought the number was disappointing. Speaking to Dave G a well known and respected "Inter man", he said the vehicles that paraded was about what his expectations were.

David's F2 Tipper was there and a very nicely restored F1 was there , then Paul's Two , and Diana's jinker were probably best of the ACCO fleet and there were a couple of S Lines , one very nice one with trailer and a spare prime mover on board.

Here's hoping the Land Rover will blow them out of the water next year.

We're looking at alternative to Ball Park next year it was too crowded , full of large vans and just not very pleasant. Stay tuned everyone.

Cheers ,

Mick

Hit the nail there -"not very pleasant". Snafu in numerous ways.

The Corowa shops were all very busy let alone the caravan parks. Hardware shop. Jaycar. Everything you did meant a queue. ATMs. Bottleshop. Maccas bigtime. "Slowest ever" award there. The local cop booked a jeep on sanger st.

Another negative - the stolly yob that photo bombed the Landy lineup/social. This was after a major problem/panic stations further down the wilson track there in the river. Nearly sunk the Stolly. Video of that should surface...

Caravan parks. Our accom at Bindaree was ok mon to wed then friday night during a camp dinner the yobbos arrived, last light, and proceeded to set up and party til after midnight. There was also some bucks and hens nights happenning - lots of the campers were for the weddings and most were for the Hoodoo Gurus and Whitlams concert on the green Sat night near the new bridge. We were at the showgrounds and the sound carried there. We booked/paid for a night there after the swap but there was a snafu there too and after going for chinese at rutherglen pub we returned to find it locked up. So we camped at Collendina reserve, 8km west of Corowa on Spring Drv, which was the best camp of the week.

Sunday we drove over to Moama Mil Veh Museum. Pretty good collection, over 50 years in the making.
Camping overnight just down the road: super humid 21deg here at 2am....

But whatever. Corowa problems were made up for by all the landy people we met. It went so fast. There is always something to look over and chat about. Constant, for a week...

edit. the above negatives about Corowa aren't permanent, we have been spoilt by so many good Corowa events. This year the town was different, crowded really, and that was very unfortunate and more or less unforeseeable.

I have only four minor disappointments.

1. Yes, it was overcrowded at Ball Park, but we managed. Everyone was there, it was a great place to walk around, and easy to walk to the shops.
2. The REMLR photoshoot was a shamozzle. More on that later in another thread.
3.  Jeep owners are quite rude. Well, the ones I had run-ins with. Tried to photobomb a photo of the Inters. Was rude when asked to move.
4. Jeep owners have no regard for others. From what I saw, Jeeps have two speeds, stationary or 60km/h. On the open road or in the unpowered camping area has no effect on these speeds.

Carzee, the only queue I experienced was the one up Sanger St. on the Saturday morning. When I walked into Jaycar, I was the only customer there.
Oh, might I suggest there are better alternatives to McDonalds.

And the Jeep owner in Sanger St. might have deserved it.

Hi Boys,

here are a couple of photo`s of Mike K, Mick, and Paul D`s move to Corowa.

We travelled from Melbourne via Yea, Mansfield, Whitfield, and Wangaratta.  Paul broke down prior to Mansfield thankfully and we managed to repair the problem prior to hitting the Mansfield - Whitfield Rd which is hilly, lots of hair pin turns and narrow - a bloody night mare if a recovery had to happen.

Anyway we made it to the Mountain iew Hotel at dinner time and hada feed prior to pushing on to Corowa.

I really enjoyed the trip this year, it was great to catch up with everyone over a few quiet ales...

The drive up with the 2 inters was fun, we made a bit of an impact as we went, and helped out the local fuel suppliers and auto electricians as well!

I agree Mick, it would have been a bit of a mission recovering Pauls truck from the Whitfield road, but the feed at the pub was worth it, looking forward to doing it again next year with Land Rovers.

The caravan park was very crowded, hopefully we can find somewhere better next year, it was a bit disappointing to have someone knock off my camp chair as well.

Blighty was a highlight as already mentioned, much cooler than Corowa.

And thanks for showing me your new photos of the early LRPVs in service Mick, lots of great detail - I havent seen that gun mount in the tub before, I wonder why they changed it it looked very comfortable!

Looking forward to 2018, the year of the Land Rover, I've got some work to do!

Cheers,

Mike.
