Solex refurb Series 2 C/R
« on: October 30, 2016, 04:45:30 PM »
I uncovered my Series 2 88" C/R this morning

and removed the Solex carburettor,

as I had recently put a kit through the carb and sent the base away to have the spindle re-bushed etc, I got it back on Friday last and only decide to do the job this morning, it doesn't take very long to remove and dismantle the Solex

the non return valve needed to be tightened as it was weeping.
The new spindles were a tad longer than the originals as you can see

so I thought I had best make some brass spacer washers from 7/16" brass hex

they did the job just nicely

it's all back together now and refitted

I did have it idling way too slow, so I increased it just a tad, I suppose a run will soon tell me how it's going to perform, anyway that's been part of my day, cheers Dennis  :)

Nice.
A job I will need to do on my workshop as it is idling too high. Adjusting the throttle and mixture screws does not help so next step will be a kit for it. Where did you get yours Dennis?
