Just got back from Triumph Rover at lonsdale (15 mins from home!)
Driver door is stuffed.
Pass door bottom badly rusted, and same with door top.
Photos attached.
By the way, they will sell one piece defender door for $750 each, with fittings!

I looked at the door top a few months back for my Perentie. One bolt came undone, the other just turned and would not come off. That is the one that is still fitted, and sitting at an angle. The top had a significant rust rattle when I shook it  :(. I don't know what they would want for it, but I doubt it would be cheap, and all you are getting is another rusty door top!

I don't have any door tops at the moment so might suit for a while if not over the top expensive

I'm a little confused here.  The Perentie/British Army Wolf door tops are aluminium frames apart from the mounting posts and glass fittings.

The posts often rust into the door bottom, but once off the door bottom you can replace the posts.

BTW: When refitting the tops, coat the posts liberally with grease to reduce the chance of subsequent rust.

The problem I've found is that when you try to undo the nuts on the 2 posts holding the top to the bottom, the whole post turns and there is a crunching sound from inside the door top.
I can't take the door tops off my Perentie as the posts turn, and the nuts do not come off. And as I don't have a replacement, I'm hesitant to start levering the tops off to see what happens.

The crunching sound is most likely the rust inside the door bottom, although there is a chance the thread in the door top has let go.  They may be Rivnuts/Nutserts.

What ever you do, don't  prise up the door top, you'll destroy it.

I would (remove the glass from the frame first) then cut off the nut/s at the bottom of the post/s and then drift out the rusty posts.  Then you can see what's happened in the door top.  If necessary the threaded inserts can drilled out, the bottom frame can be built back up by TIG welding the hole and then re-drill and threads restored or insert a new Rivnut.

Parabolic is Rocky Mountain, and they won't ship from the US to Oz.
The Rocky mountain dealer in the UK has sent me a quote for A$600 for 2 with shipping, so I think I'll go with them.
I'm in the US again in November, and looked at getting them shipped to me there, but it won't save me much, especially considering the tops will not fit in a standard large suitcase. The UK option might cost a smidge more, but it means less hassles.

<snip> ...Can take a piccy on Sunday (or late tomorrow if I can get to the Chook Shed after packing up the club stuff at the Tank Shed).

As  for selling, I was thinking about using the door pockets on my SIII, but that's not essential, otherwise it's just taking up space that I don't have.

Whats a fair price for a door bottom?

Diana
Sorry for the delay
