Ask and you shall find.
In the website  www.remlr.com , on the opening page look for the highlighted "Members Page"
from there on top right hand corner look at  REMLR Inc.
From the next page look at  "Statement of Objectives"

The prime intent, I feel, as stated in the Objectives is the continuing Preservation and/or Restoration of L/Rovers
and/or other Military Vehicles and Equipment.

Now, if members purchase a vehicle of whatever vintage or type it's entirely up to them what they do with it.
However their doesn't seem to be anything in the Objectives that leans towards "Where do I locate the boombox,
Can I fit a Supercharger into the Engine Bay, Will the AirCon still work with a canvas roof, Why can't I get it
registered to fit the Netball team in the back"
Am I being Diplomatic enough ??  Yes, there are a lot of "newbies" buying lots of Perenties.  I've got two now as well.
An awful lot of new buyers are using them as daily drivers, taking picnics at the beach, going pig-shooting or
even thrashing them to death in the bush or on rocky fire-trails.  That's entirely their right.  Exactly what the Series
vehicles were used for earlier.
Let's hope there is still as many vehicles preserved into the future in original form for future generations to lust after.
And purchase from us.

Are your 2 going to be thrashed around the bush? and given a bit of a Pimp?

To quote.

The prime intent, I feel, as stated in the Objectives is the continuing Preservation and/or Restoration of L/Rovers
and/or other Military Vehicles and Equipment.

I would read the above statement to mean keeping your Land Rover original not changing it in any way.  Personnely I like to keep mine standard with a few minor tweaks, nothing as extreme as a 3 inch lift and 35 tyres, but theres more people out there doing these things than not and as Greg says good on them, and good on REMLR for having this forum for those who don't want to change things.  Would be nice if we could just all be happy in what we do and not belittle new members for wanting to make change to there vehicles, maybe just point them towards the modified section let them have there play time in there.

perfect... thanks. I understand the purpose and certainly don't object to it. The more information sources the better.

I would maintain that it's a bit difficult to find that "mission statement".... maybe I'm just lazy. Dunno how you make it more visible but it may save a few frustrations for everyone if it could be....

now I'm off to find some tyres to fit my 20inch spinners  :P

Hi,

my view is REMLR inc's objective are the collection and dissemination of information regarding military land Rovers and associated vehicle/trailers, but also assist members in the restoration and preservation of vehicles through that collection and dissemination of information. -

To me preservation does not always mean period accuracy and conformity - it means keeping them alive, as long as they are alive they can always be returned to in service condition if so desired.

I have the pleasure of history on my side! I bought a Series 3 FFR out of an army auction in Broadmeadows in 1989 and stripped all the army stuff off and chucked it down the tip and used the vehicle for hard farm work. Then 15 years ago pulled it out of retirement and completely restored it to in service condition. I've now done exactly the same to a Perentie FFR it's a farm ute with no military stuff on it.

Also the forum is not REMLR inc in it's entirety but merely a method of assisting communication between members, plenty of stuff on here I don't bother reading cause not everything interests me, but plenty does.

Now back to the discussion, have you cut the back off the 6x6 yet?

cheers
Scott

No I haven't cut the back off yet. I put it up here as a discussion point. It's something I intend to do but it's probably a few months off yet. I'm just doing the planning and looking for CONSTRUCTIVE input.

Perhaps anyone wishing to comment on this thread should reread it from the start. Only one person has been negative about the possible project.

If those that claim we are all Series loving rivet counters had bothered looking in the 'modified' folder, they'd see a 2 year old post about the same idea. Then, also without any floggings.

I like the idea of the bob tail, would be a good looking and practical ute. you could then remove the third axle pto from the box and fit a overdrive if you wanted.

I didn't know you could do that, that makes me even more interested in the project as I was considering a diff ratio change, but the low gearing of the vehicle is one of the best things about it off road.
Can someone enlighten me as what this overdrive entails?

So, Back on topic;
Pete, I strongly support your idea, suggested it myself 2 yrs ago.
Might be an easier task fo ryou to start with a Basic Cargo, though.
As you suggested, sell the AD, I'm sure you'll recoup all costs and a bit more. Judging by the few i've seen for sale, through $200 worth of camping gear in and you can ask $50 000 for it ;)

From a project point of view though, the Cargo simply has less metal to cut. You can buy them cheaper and with the balance, have exactly the storage system you want built to suit the 'new' vehicle.
Probably even cover the cost of the OD setup.
Kind Regards, Barefoot Dave.

Dave
I really like the AD tray setup, 2 really big straight through missile cabinets at the front and the drawer underneath. I have removed the long side cabinets. I intend to retain the drawer but move it forwards.

The truck was a Tenix rebuild with 4K on it when I bought it at the auctions. Hard to part with.

Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been out of range with the Perentie for a couple of months.
No it didn’t happen, I was torn between the two and have decided to leave it as is for now. As a tourer the 6x6 can’t be beaten for available space to stash that one last thing.
