2A Gunbuggy
« on: August 11, 2016, 03:41:49 PM »
Hey it doesn't hurt to ask.  :)

Any sitting in sheds or behind sheds that are for sale? Or not but your too scared to go ask the farmer or drive up the driveway.

Looking recently at the gunbuggy thread that lists known ones in private hands and museums, it still lists quite a few yet to be found.

I live in hope.

.... Just hearsay I guess, but I was told by a friend that a dozen or so from Moorebank went to the shredder in the early 90's  :(

I hope you find one :)

I hope that story isn't true. What a shame.
Maybe one will appear on grays?

The only ones still with military are in museums @ Singleton Infantry center (S2) , Bandiana Victoria (S2A), somewhere in Perth (S2A), others are in private hands like mine and some would have been re-constituted after auction back in the early 90's, I do remember reading about one called 'Thomas the tank chaser' it had doors fitted and windscreen mounts re-welded, I can't remember the story completely so I cant comment on what the rear end looked like, and there was another in WA that had been changed and it did a mail run for years, but it was very modified as well, but you never know what could/might turn up somewhere, cheers Dennis
ps sometime back in the old AULRO/Remlr site  a chap in Qld had 2 of them both in a sad state, one was basically a chassis, with bulkhead/guards/tub, missing all mechanical parts, I haven't a clue as to what happened to them, but there were only 69 in total, 45 of them being S2A,,.

Plus the one at the AWMs Mitchell annex Dennis. Not in military hands, but not private either.

Cheers.

The Meanandarra museum vehicle originally belonged (or maybe still does) to Rod K, he had 4 maybe 5 of them at one stage, I have some images that some friends took whilst visiting his property about 15 years ago, I know 2 wrecks were purchased and taken to Brisbane, unsure as to what has happened to them now, if your looking for one you never know your luck, it's a big country, cheers Dennis :)

The same GB was also parked at the Cowra Museum Auction, trying to attract the attention of cashed up buyers.
