cookey who worked there at that time suggests that very few Land Rovers, other than the vehicles returned from SVN and specials like Ambulances etc ever went through a full rebuild.

Mostly if they got to the point of needing a full rebuild they had already exceeded their repair value and were disposed of through the auction system.

Just picked up a rolling chassis only (with firewall) 109 series 11a, chassis No. 25307359b, Its an ex army vehicle and plated as FFT but I can't find that number on the registry of ex military Land Rovers (or maybe I need new glasses). Unfortunately the chassis has suffered some serious damage at the front and the vehicle is VERY incomplete. I plan to repair the damage and fit the chassis under my civie 11a 109 wagon (also has a badly damaged chassis) and fit a 200tdi and 5 speed. Should make for a very useful and fun wagon.
But it would be good to know more of the history of the chassis. I have been working as a civie for defence for the last 6 years on Land Rovers and have had a really nice 11a 109 army Rover years ago.

Here is 112-791 for better of worse at Dapto Pick-a-part. This is a couple of years ago.  I got the cookie cutters and many other trophies off the old girl. Verrreee Rusteee.  Went back and it has been turned to coke cans and razor blades.  Was a good parts machine.  Not many complete S2A's at wreckers. I was surprised that it had been crushed when I went there last time.  Sad but true.

I'd have given them scrap value for it.

I've seen some different ways to do it - but that there is a dodgy driver footwell ventilation setup if ever I saw it - looks a tad too airy.
