Series 2a 88" questions
« on: July 29, 2016, 02:44:53 PM »
Are there any pics of swb series 2a with ATUs mounted on the fenders?
Also, the vehicle in question has a chassis number that begins with 2730 which is rather high.
I'm puzzled.

I've seen two photo's of shorties with ATU's in Vietnam. Neither were the larkspur (?) type - it was a rectangle shape that I have not seen before.... perhaps sourced fron US jeep stock.

One photo showed it on the front guard, the other was between the tail gate and passenger side tail lights.

I'll check later for the pics.

Cheers,

Pete

Cheers, would love to see them.
Going through the remlr files I see several 2730 chassis entries that were ex navy land rovers.

There is this one in Malaya with a Larkspur on the guard, but I think we used British shorties there.

Not a Radio.  Both Rovers show the early V/Nam AMUs used with the new US Radios.
Commonly mounted at the rear above the tail-lights.
Following them we used the AMUs seen later bolted onto the sides as per normal FFRs.
The earlier AMUs are very hard to locate.

The Malaysian vehicles shows the ATU on the mudguard used with the Larkspur system.
