Instrument Cluster Cowl
« on: July 24, 2016, 08:56:57 PM »
Hi All,   I know many of these would probably have the same problem but I am seeking the cowl that the instrument panel screws onto.....

Looking at the parts manual I think it is MTC2808 Cowl

The plastic parts have broken and the instrument panel is free floating at the moment..... better bolt it down at some stage.

I note that the UK resellers list them new at 36 quid, may be available new from the various LR parts resellers here. Some have been dismantled here and TR Spares in SA would be worth an enquiry I would think HTH 😊

If you're talking about the plastic frame KLR are making metal replacements for them.  Much more durable than the plastic jobbies.

A common problem. Fixed my Defender, which was badly cracked, with Tarzan's grip! Holds really well.

APT fabrications make a very nice replacement out of laser cut and folded steel. It's solid as a rock and a perfect fit.

I also came across this mob who make a replacement binnacle out of steel. Very tempting...

Thanks for that filks.

I pulled the old one out and have fabricated some galv plate on the part where the broken bits are. It won't be breaking for a while now I don't think.

Now to get it all back together.
