I hate the software from the last few years. Seems designed to irritate as they all phone home every 5 minutes to get the latest update, which has a few fixed typos difference to the last update. And always when you need to access what you want to do. Back in my day....

I only run old operating systems and software where humanly possible. ATM I'm running Macro$haft$ Win7 pro with a third party firewall to prevent any handshaking with any backdoor software / bloatware / bugware.   Locking the system down tighter than a fishes A seems to work, as I haven't had any problems for a few years since installing the firewall and the firewall is quite easy to manage manually.

HTH.
