Perentie brake booster.
« on: June 07, 2016, 08:50:25 PM »
Hey everyone!
I require a new brake booster for my perentie. Could someone point me in the rights direction to get one?
I would rather new or reco, not second hand. I am in Melbourne
Is there anyone that does a changeover for these as i am trying to get the car on the road as soon as possible.
Thanks again!

PBR make them Ashley. The part number is VH524. Repco or brake shops like better brakes should be able to source them.
09/1998 Perentie 6X6 ARN202516 - BRUTUS

No luck with the part number at bursons or at repco. Has anyone actually bought the brake booster recently using the part number? And from which store? And is there an alternative booster i can use in its place?
Cheers guys

I would of thought any good brake specialist shop would be able to help you.

I have had success at BGT brake and clutch in Dandenong, 10 Webster st. Not LR parts but no longer available truck brake parts. Very old fashioned shop and service.

Hey everyone!
I require a new brake booster for my Perentie. I am in Melbourne

PBR make them Ashley. The part number is VH524.
As you're in Melbourne, I'd cut out the middleman and try PBR direct armed with the part number (they may direct you to a reseller closer to you):

PBR Australia Pty Ltd
264 East Boundary Rd,
Bentleigh East VIC 3165

Good idea 303gunner. Ive removed the booster and it seems it is definitely vh524.. I will try pbr directly as you suggest and hope i have more luck.

Dennis, the boosters i see on ebay are all standard defender boosters, not the same as Perentie.
I want to find a brand new one rather than wait for mine to be rebuilt. But if i cant find a new one i guess ill have to bite the bullet.

Ive called pbr directly. Vh524 brake booster has been discontinued. My only options now are a rebuild or an aftermarket version or find a different booster with the same specs. Im going to go to hoppers stoppers after work today, they specialise in brake upgrades and building and rebuilding boosters and brake components. They should have a dual diaphragm that will bolt in

Yeah. I had them to an inspection and some works before i drove back to Melbourne. He told me about the booster and said that he just gets them rebuilt. I would have had him do it but didn't have time.
