A dumb question probably, but what is the purpose/benefits of the split rims which are on the RFSV and others versus normal Perentie rims.

uh-oh, "back on track" with a sensible question, thanks Doz  :)

I guess the short answer is that split rims can make tyre repairs simpler, but users need to be aware of the life-endangering risks that go with changing tyres on 'em.

For example, the user handbook says to place the assembled wheel&tyre under the engine block/sump when reinflating !

I've changed to using D1 rims on my RFSV in part for ease of balancing (but I've held onto my s/rs w/high milers  :) )

Thanks Dugite.  I doubt I will ever be making tyre repairs in the field especially given the RFSV carry two spares, but I am also thinking of doing the same and hanging on to the current set but using Wolf rims for every day use.
