I have a new alternator in my shed 12V with vac/pump fitted, it cost me about $350.00, why not just get your alternator fixed, I would suspect the ones being sold @ auction would/could be faulty in some way, cheers Dennis

Thanx Carzee, I am good, I want a extra spare wheel before our next outing.

Dennis if I can get my grubby hands on parts I will buy and fix it myself no problems there.
Mine is over charging so probably needs a new regulator/rectifier or diode pack.

Difficult to read the label, its on the underside, but I had some success.

12V 70A
IC REG BUILT IN

a brand name that could be Hitachi. Its not a long name like Mitsubishi.

LR170-401

and on another line nearest the bar code
nsn (seen in ROPS) This is the part number that Landrover used which is actually the original Isuzu number: 8941 64 175 4481

Thats it.

Just matched this discussion with that LR number:
http://www.aulro.com/afvb/isuzu-landy-enthusiasts-section/157600-4bd1-alternator.html

seems there are substitutes on feebay.

Thanx Carzee.
I could not find anything on my alternator, I removed it this evening and will strip it down tomorrow and see what is going on and what parts I can get.

:) can we talk about the Perentie starter motor?

I have heard the normal Isuzu starter won't fit due to space issues. So the starter is a bit special, to fit.

On the RPS there are two numbers, "M003T67471" (LR number?) and "8944634730" (which looks to be an Isuzu number).

Who has some experience with the Starters?

3T67471 is the Mitsubishi part number (Mitsubishi is the OEM manufacturer for the Isuzu starter).
