Has anyone got any experience with seat belts and seating for a roadworthy? Inquired with a guy today and he said that he wants a engineers certificate for the rear seating? Claims if it has the eight seat and two in front in place it must be registered as such and therefore seats must comply. Claims last time he put a ambulance down as a two seater the transport Dept knocked it back because it had the seats fitted in the back. I don't want all the trouble and was hoping it would be just registered a a two seater with no belts (which I would put I later anyway). If it's simply him putting it as a 10 seater with no certificate I would be happy with that too so I can in theory take the kids in a parade etc lawfully.
Any advice would be appreciated. I am in Queensland.

I would use the second edition ADRs as a guide.

If your vehicle complies to the second edition ADRs, it should be ok. If they ask you to comply with any of the third edition ADRs, they clearly do not know their job.

Yup, although mine only has belts for 6 in the back, but it's a series 2 with different seatbelt mounts.

It only needs to comply with the ADR's of the time.  The guy needs to check his facts better I think.

Actually a Series 11 ambulance doesn't have to comply with any ADR because it pre-dates all ADR.

The problem is that if seat belts are fitted, they have to comply.

And the last registration sticker I have (which was a limited area working vehicle registration, was for 8.  Fingers crossed I can get registered as a van with that many seats again through the club registration, but talking to the registrar at the club it shouldn't be a problem.

It has been suggested that a US folding stretcher mounted on the  back door of the Ambulance. I have found these for sale and was wondering what others thought? Dated and they come with a IV pole that clamps onto the side of the stretcher.

I have mounted the fold up stretcher on the door. The stretcher is dated 1966 so it is right for the era.
