Bridge plates for Inters.

In my experience the above has never been strictly adhered to.
Most Inters have a larger yellow circle, usually 180-200 mm diameter with numerals 110-130 mm tall, which were painted directly onto the vehicle.

Interesting that it has the white International Harvester badge, I have a NOS one for my Mk3 which is OD.

The color of the IH badge used on the production line was a dull silver which usually appears to be white in a photo. They got painted over when units repainted the trucks in service. The bridge plates were a thin adhesive plastic disc with the numbers printed on it. They were again often painted over in service. The truck pictured still has the production semi-gloss paint rather than lusterless, so it hasn't been repainted. The part number for the bridge plate is ADE(V)225-71, but it doesn't have a stock number allocated in the RPS. It is listed as an expendable part and no scaling is made either. It seems like it was made hard to obtain!

Thanks for that, the one on my Mk3 was painted RFS Orange with a broken post.  I was given a new, never fitted replacement in the lustreless olive so assumed they were all like that.

The Mk3 and Mk4/F1 etc are a little different so that may be the reason.

Here's a pic of 332 in action early in its life. It has the silver badge. Note too the figure 8 on the bridge plate. I have done a template that looks fairly close to the original. The F1 shown above is painted in OD semi gloss. Mk4s appear to have been done in a darker green that was not as deep as DOB. It was semi gloss as well. Most ended up with OD lusterless of course, but one exception was the school of transport( Pucka) Mk 4s which were always the darker colour.

Perhaps it's only the later replacement parts that were OD? I'm not doing inin DBG so the olive cam green will do, but interesting none the less.

Here's a pic of the brass rebuild plate on my Mk3 Which was screwed on in place of the original manufacturer's data plate on the front upper grille panel...

An interesting one, rebuilt with a Mk3 cab before the stocks ran out. Later they used Mk4 type cabs in rebuilds

I'm very glad it had the rebuild treatment early on, pity the chassis was changed but by all accounts it was worked very hard in SVN

The attached pic is either 170-295 in-country or one of it's contemporaries.

My eyesight isn't good enough anymore to be sure but I like the idea that it's the same truck, at least until a definate pic surfaces
