A new feature on our website www.corowaswim-in.org is an event calendar for Australian military vehicles and other events where they are invited. The idea was suggested by a member of KVE, as we have links with MV clubs around the country and the website can be a portal for seeking event information. If you or your club are organising an event and would like it put on the calendar, then go to the website and below the calendar is an online form to fill all the details in.

It would be great if you can all send in your entries soon as I am also getting married at Corowa on Monday 14th March so have a lot of extra work on my plate for the 2016 event.

2018 is going to be Year of the Land Rover. I wonder if the Land Rover numbers will be as high as the Jeep numbers in 2010. There were 180 Jeeps and I bet the guys with Jeeps wont want to be outnumbered by Land Rovers. I anticipate that 2018 will have a record number of military vehicles.

 :) Can't wait for Corowa again.

Um, can we talk about having a landy-love BBQ at Rowers park? In 2015 we tried it and got a good reaction. The problem was it was off-the-cuff and there was no social aspect - people assembled, took pix and departed. The Rowers park has facilities and BBQs, but is it a no go area for the event? Have Corowa events used that park before  - is there any council hands-off restriction or something on Rowers park?

If you guys with Land Rovers can get a plan together for a meet / bbq/ photoshoot, at Rowers Park or elsewhere, please let me know by end of December, with details, date, time, etc and I will put it in the January issue of KVE News as well as the Special Edition given to participants. There are bound to be L/R owners who do not come on here or belong to other clubs, so it will get the word out.

Ok, some planning to do. Richard has forwarded details of the KVE program via Jan and seen where there is a 2 hour slot for our get-together.

"As activities on Friday are within Corowa town, then around 12.30 would be a good time for a bbq meet. In the morning there is a school visit to Corowa High at 11am, then after leaving there, time is free until 2pm when the next run departs Ball Park for Karinya House, a residential home for the elderly, arrival time is 2.30pm so in order for any L/R owners who want to do visits as well, this slot should work to everyone's advantage as other enthusiasts and owners are bound to want to come along to see as well."

So, a date and a start time sorted. Friday 1230. Perhaps organisers would be there at least 30min earlier to prepare. Cross the fingers for good weather.

On the first attempt (11am March 2015) we checked for tree shadows on the area for the photo and even then wished it had been later on it the day. So thats one little detail attended to. Also I'm hoping someone may organise aerial-drone photos which would be good. Please do, its out of my budget.

Details to check and flesh out:
* BBQ thin sausages, bread, sauce, tongs, etc.
* Ice cold drinks. Hmmm.
* Parking vehicles. A bit of an ask but my suggestion is seen in the attached photo -do it as much as practicable- by Series. Inters/Mogs/Macks on the river side of the slope (see photo).
* REMLR banners & flags etc. A roll of paper towel for drooling (disregard -its just a personal note).
* Recommended: signboards with vehicle history.
* Setting a boundry - a windscreen A4 paper for advertising a list of parts wanted or parts surplus with a contact phone number would be okay and probably a good idea for most of the Corowa week actually, but we should stipulate "No parts at the event" - the main swap is less than 24hours after the Landy Love get together after all. And its absolutely not to be missed.
* Any other details?

I have a couple of REMLR flags and a grass sign.

For inspiration, and to serve up some mid-week LR eye candy, here is Ian's 88 GS - won "Best Military" and "Best Series 2" at the Land Rover Expo, Sept-2013.

It would be good if we could have HotRover bring his masterpiece down as well - but it is a long haul from Toowoomba  :)
