High miler tyre size
« on: October 18, 2015, 06:25:33 PM »
Researching tyres currently as I plan on changing my tyres as tubeless tyres I think are easier to deal with than tubes.
So my question is what size are the high milers it reads 7.5/16 is what's printed on the side which I'm assuming is the 7.5"width and 16"rim.
I am wanting something similar size as anything larger won't fit between bulkhead and storage bin and I'm happy with the narrow width I don't think huge fat tires are required.
Any recommendations on tyres also appreciated

235/85R16 is probably the most popular size for 110s/Defenders with plenty of variety. Although I don't know the actual size difference.

I wanted more ground clearance so went with 255/85R16 (33.8" actual)

Yeah the 235/85 seems to be the closest I have found.
I wouldn't mind going slightly larger but my spare wheels ate being attached to my ROPS and between rear bulkhead and storage bins there isn't any space for larger tyres

Can you improvise with the mounting? Is yours an RFSV? Does it not have the jerry can double spare holder?

So I have found that the hi-miler 7.5 is a fair bit lager than 7.5 xzl Michelin. So much so that my RFSV will fit in the garage with mich and not hi milers. I'll try and attach a photo. For rolling diametre the 255/85r16 is closest to the hi milers bit that means a wider rim is needed. But if your changing them anyway it doesn't matter.
The 235/85r16 is closest to Michelin. I think people with say that all 7.5's are the same but they're just not.

I have the mark 1 rfsv and plan on putting a bike rack on the rear so can't put spares on the back.
Could always get slightly smaller storage bins if I wanted to run larger tyres.
Maybe tomorrow I will grab a spare and see what size I measure up the diameter of the high miler

I do believe I have read somewhere that the Michelin tyre is a slightly smaller diameter
