I had the chance to buy one of these trucks about 20 years ago from Prices in Dalby but couldn't raise the $12,000 quickly enough and it went to South Australia.
At that stage I didn't know that some had been to Vietnam or I would have tried to deal a bit more with Prices to save it.
I have kicked myself ever since as one of them with a little low loader would be good to take stuff to Canungra, easy to drive with auto transmission, 250hp Cummins and from what I saw well set up for the small operator.

The only one I saw in army service was going through Chinchilla to an exercise up north, it was towing a double axle trailer and had two enormous guns on board. The guns were on the trailer at an angle with the trails side by side to be able to fit on.

I saw it at Lake Goldsmith.

Sure is, it would be interesting to see if it still has the 6 speed auto fitted , due to their short wheel base they were not suited to civilian operators, Axle weights did  not suit all states back then

For the archives...in "Mud & Dust", page 235, there is a frontal photo of a REO ARN 174-023. Since the AWM has revamped their image serving magic, that photo is full of details, online.

Its the reference if someone ever wanted to restore one to SVN spec. IS there one at Bandiana Museum? This one appears to have a moniker "Miss Anne":

I am fairly sure Bandiana have a Reo and a federal 604.  The federalos were fairly long in the tooth by the time they got to vietnam!
