DOC’S REBUILD
As some of you may remember about 18months / 2 year ago I pick up a Landrover Ambulance for Greg P. of Tasmania, after getting it home it was decided that a lot of mechanical items needed doing, replace clutch, re do all the braking system, repair rust in chassis, replace rear diff and just about a complete rewire, the fire wall  had to be replaced and after some time  crawling around under doc and closer look at the body it was decided that the body would be removed completely as well.
Like any job this task is not difficult  if you have the equipment, which we did not,  but two engine cranes, one crow bar, two slings and some blocks of wood it took two of us about two hours to remove the body. The rear R/H door had a broken pillar level with the window and at some time in its life the same door had been damaged and a very unsightly patch put on it. Below the doors both body panels had splits in them, after soda blasting the whole body more cracks showed up. The top of the windscreen frame had rusted out as well as the body above it, behind the big panel that has the Red Cross on it. The fire wall has to have a foot well replaced along with some other minor repairs and is nearly ready to go back in as soon as the chassis is painted. Having a mate that has a guillotine and a pan brake (folding machine) and can weld alum, another mate that is an aircraft engineer,  long with a good knowledge of structural engineering with previous experience with folding machines, and a love of Landrovers has made this a very interesting task for me
