S3 GS in the USA
« on: August 02, 2012, 08:13:24 PM »
This ex Australian army S3 GS was photographed in Washington (state) in 2009. Note Washington State number plate.

S3 still retains brush bar and LHS fuel filler. Are rear bumperettes from a S2A (NATO plug cutout) or S3 Jerry can holders?

I recon it's a 2A , has 2A rear cross members and 2A bumberettes, also has Series two door hinges, BUT has S3 front guard as it is not a cut guard and has air intake for heater...

Wonder how it got there?

Cheers

They need not be SIII guards- just uncut ones.
There are heaps of in-service examples of 2a's with uncut guards.
Your name will also go on zee list!

I was thinking;

S2    Army - normal guards
S2A  Army - cut guards
S3    Army - normal guards with air intake vent for heater on passenger side

And, of course, you're right.
I hadn't paid close enough attention to the picture.  I just went ahead and responded to your post like a bull at a gate.
Sorry.
