Hello everyone.
Whilst I have been keeping slightly busy on the resto scene, I havent done much to update this blog.

I have assembled the engine and painted all the external bits in a nice shade of Holden blue. It had been painted Chevy Orange and what appeared to be Holden blue under that so I thought....Holden Blue, why not. Whilst I was at it and because I had no Black Gloss paint, I painted the breather cap and oil filter Holden blue too. Looking good so far. In fact I'm planning to polish the rocker cover just to get that extra horsepower from it.

This will be fun!
After sourcing parts to start my front axle rebuild, I thought I'd better have a look at what was in store for me. Front diff drain plug is missing and has been replaced by a bolt and a shovel load of silastic. Then removed the road wheels having not removed them yet and the drivers side has a very interesting inspection port as you can see. The drum has been jammed by the expanded brake shoes and has cracked through the curcumfrence of the drum allowing normal wheel rotation. Oh well here we go..

Wade,

I've got drain plugs and a replacement drum (without the inspection port), if you need any bits.

Work continues on my 2A, somedays good, somedays not at all. Though as I have just transferred in my job, I will be on shift so the chance of doing more work more often is looking better.
Firstly I rebuilt the swivel hubs and as you can see in the first photo, I managed to balls that up by putting the swivel balls up side down and it gave the hubs the same camber as an old Volkswagen.
So I had to undo all my good work and put it all back together the right way up. Job done photo two.
Next came the axles. Thanks to a very generous benefactor who donated a complete series 3 front diferential, I was able to get swivel hubs in excellent condition, and becase the diff centre was a ten spline, I was able to use the axles which were in far better condition than my 2A ones. I just attached them to my 10 spline hub axles and I have an uncle Bob.
Its all attached to new front springs and shocks also donated by my generous benefactor whom I am greatly indebted.

So Merry Xmas to all you REMLR Chaps and Chappettes and look forward to reading more adventures in the New Year

Does this look correct
Setting up my front brakes and cannot find any good pictures of the final brake shoe spring position.
I'm hoping I got it right. Any words of wisdom etc gratefully accepted!

Back on four wheels
With a break in the hot weather, I finally finished the reassembly of the front end. New springs, shocks brakes, seals and steering relay and its now able to move around. Great! the wife says, now roll it out and clean up the mess around it. So after two days hard yakka, even the driveway and garage look as good as my 2A.
I think thats the hard physical stuff done, now just the brain bending stuff like brake plumbing, paint and electrical. But I am another step closer to getting her on the road.
A name? I have named her after my Grandmother Barbara May, who although not of the same vintage, like her there isn't any creature comforts and everything was done the old fashioned way. By hand. Bless you Nan.

Another update, I haven't been lazy, just lazy with the camera.
I've completed all the brake plumbing, hoses etc. Fitted the radiator, hoses, fan and shroud. fitted the alternator, Manifolds, a new Weber carby and the battery tray. I scrubbed out the old oil bath air filter and repainted it. The original paint on it was silver hammertone so I decided to jazz it up a bit.  The centre section of the filter was repainted in hammertone silver and the bottom can and top inlet were painted matt black. Looks heaps better and kinda sporty don't you think. Firewall/bulkhead is next with a coat of paint and then the wiring. Getting closer....
