Not sure I have either shop in tassie, although there may be a clarke rubbr in hobart (only 200 km away).  Ahhh the joys of tassie.

I'm not taking the old firewall out till the new one is ready to have all the bits transfered over to it, but afther the front of the chassis that is the next job.

Well, I have procured one of the larger missing pieces of eden, the capstan winch!

It is in tas, but not close to me, but the chap goes to burnie regularly.

Anybody live near burnie that could have it dropped off at their place for me till I am up that way next ?

it was $150 and appears to have the winch and base plate.  Not sure about the fairlead and other parts, levers, but it's a start!!  Thankyou random search on gumtree this morning!

Hi,
There is a purple pig near Austins on the way to Wynyard.

How big is this thing you need to collect from Burnie.

I may have room this week on way back from Wynyard

Pig as in Armoured truck, or as in large fibreglass purple pig?

I have a lead on getting it to devonport, so we will see where that gets me.

Dennis, unfortunately it is the base plate and winch, and that is it, so I am short the dog clutch, fairlead roller & Mount, Lever. Not much really  :o :-\ :'(

It is still a start, and more than i had though :)

But do they look the same?  I'm more worried about appearance than functionalit, as I hope to not have to use it (not that I have enough parts to use it!)

Phoenix, I have a capstan winch.
If it is like yours, I may be able to get your missing pieces made.
Food for thought to be tackled another day.

I will remember that as most of the parts are not technically that difficult, and there is always demand for the shaft as they are often missing I understand.

Ok, an honest to god update!

I have purchased, and partially dismantled a nice little Series 2 SWB (I think a 63 or 64) for parts.  Onbly missing the gearbox and the head is off the engine with a cracked valve.

Surplus parts will come up on here for sale possibly as well as gumtree.  It had a lot of parts in good condition including roof etc so i'm pretty happy with it for $500 complete.  chassis only has one chassis rust in an outrigger, firewall is almost mint, dashboard and gauges are fabulous etc etc.
