I have moved my handheld 5w 40ch GME TX6200 from my ute to the Perentie. It attaches to an interchangeable 6db or 9db aerial on the bullbar and charges from a charger unit attached to the dash power output socket. I've wired it along the inside top edge of the wing panel, up the edge of the windscreen, across the channel above the door, along the bulkhead and down between the seats so no drilling was needed and its well above wading level. I am not sure if there is the capacity to add a microphone but it would certainly be useful. At the moment I just keep it in case of an emergency rather than routine communications. I tend to only rarely travel in convoy anyway.
Cheers,  Mike

Here is my cheap oricom on special at supercheap

Using it with the best GME Aerial I could find. It is wired into the aux power behind the CDL.
