In the early ninties, the British government gave the Australian government 20 million pounds to attend to the cleanup of the atomic test sites around Maralinga.
This Toyota Land Cruiser was used during the decontamination process in 1993. It had a large compressor/filtration unit on the roof to pressurise the interior of the vehicle so that no radioactive dust could enter. You can see the bulkhead within the vehicle that was used to isolate the drivers compartment. Entry and egress from the drivers compartment is through the passenger side hatch as the drivers door has been removed and permanently sealed up.
