Not real sure what rivet you are now after? Sorry I didn't mean to sound as in you didn't know how to use a rivet... think I now understand. There are two types of Dome rivets.

Nothing fancy here. I’ve done mine. Just used a rivet with quite a large head to even out the pressure over the rubber so no tears. Or are you talking about another?

Note the “Dome head” left  in this image. That’s the type to use. http://www.shanghaimetal.com/uploadfile/rivet%20washer/rivet/blind-rivets-pop.jpg

Again https://www.google.com.au/search?q=dome+head+rivet&biw=1366&bih=639&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=juZWVdyoG4bNmwW9vIDADA&ved=0CBwQsAQ#tbm=isch&q=dome+head+blind+rivet

This is from the repair parts scale.

Hi Philthy, your ok
it was a solid rivet but I have just put  normal blind rivets in
to solve the problem, solid rivets have a special tool that squeezes it down
and does not use a rivet gun, but all good now.

Thanks
