Hi Diana,

I think some had the canvas cover, a ute at say DSU RANDWICK might have had the black standard ute tonneu , compared to one at 2 MP Coy, it would have the cage with seating , and a canvas cover , and a supply company might have had one with canopy and bows.

I could be wrong :-)

Good luck with your vehicle decision, see you there.

Mick

I'm thinking of making a cage for the back and turning it into a MP wagon. I remember them vaguely :-)

Mick

I have an inservice photo of this vehicle. Will post up soon.

Great to see an XY in safe hands!

We do have some of the ARN details, so finding the registration is not out of the question.

Thanks Phoenix,

That's great to know. I'll post details of vehicle soon. I don't think there would be too many restored military XY's getting around so it will be a great vehicle when completed.

Regards,

Mick

Hi Wayne,

That would be terrific !

I'm about to start on the bodywork and give her a respray. I'm thinking of putting a MP cage on the back with canopy and bows. Any photos would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Mick

The MPs weren't the only ones that had the cage on the back, our unit had a couple that had bows and canopy, with mesh at the front.... but no gate at the rear, just the tarp. There was provision for seating too, I guess you would get locked up today if you dared carry a passenger back there though.

HI All,

Well as some are aware I wasn't in a Land Rover this year at Corowa I was in a XY Falcon ute - actually Mick's ute which I was lucky enough to take off Mick! well actually buy off Mick - and thanks to Mick for having it in great mechanical condition and supplying a Road Worthy certificate when he handed it over to me - can't ask a mate to do any more than that.

I think as it is basically unmolested it should stay that way, yeah it looks a bit scratched up but that's real life, so many XY's are being over restored into GT's, I know the old bloke that originally owned it didn't want this to happen to it and it wont.

I really want to find the ARN and Carzee is onto it, I also really want to see some pics of any XY ute in service, especially a MP ute with cage etc.

More info in this thread as well http://remlr.com/forum/index.php?topic=3015.msg31799#msg31799

Anyway here are some photos from Corowa (sleeping in the swag under the Hootchie worked just fine!  :-X Lol)
