I've seen some good 40 series dual cab conversions, I've seen some bad conversions, and I've seen some downright weird ones. I think that car falls into the latter category.

Going by the Callsign and Markings on the door I would put it as a RAEME vehicle in A Sqn of an RAAC Regiment.
Could be some interesting history to this one.  Wonder when it was modified.  RAEME are known to modify things
aren't they ?    Might be worth grabbing just to keep it the way it is.

Certainly not a Field Ambulance though.
