SERIES 2A ANTENNA MOUNT
« on: January 14, 2015, 07:49:48 PM »
Hi All,

can anyone help me ? I`m after a antenna mount for a Series 2A. I dont know what they even look like and believe they mount at the rear of the vehicle beside the tail gate? Any info , advise, and /or a photo would also be appreciated.

Cheers,

Mick

Hi Juddy,

Do you have a photo of one or know the correct name of the mount ?
Were they only mounted at the rear of the vehicle ?

Cheers,

Mick

Here is another image from SVN.

or the site http://www.awm.gov.au/collection/P08176.010/

These were initially accessed directly from US supplies in country as Australia had only just started the transition from the Larkspur family of (British) radios to the American radios.  They were used on all manner of Jeeps and Armoured vehicles.

If you're interested in the one I have, I will need to know by tonight as I leave Sydney for Melbourne in the wee hours of tomorrow morning.

The one shown in the photo above (mounted on the rear) in the US is called a Sugarscoop.  Has a flat base and mounts flush on the body.   The later Aust. ones were mounted on the sides and were shaped to bolt onto the the capping.  They are on ebay from time to time or members on here.    see the website for photos.

Yep the difference is really only the angle that goes over the capping when mounted on the side of a land rover, If going on the rear of a s2 or 2a then the US sugarscoop is the one to get :) I have a new one I got from the US I am putting it on the back of my s111
