Filling a Perentie from a Jerry Can - not!
« on: December 31, 2014, 05:48:34 PM »
Today, I decided to top up the tank on Angas from a leaking Jerry Can.
Now I remember on my Series 2A and 3 Rovers, there was a pull up strainer in the fuel filler neck.
Not so on the Perentie and impossible to empty a full Jerry into the tank. I can only assume that somewhere among the CES for the vehicle was a funnel?????
Anyone have any input? What does this funnel look like, if I'm to try to keep it close to spec, or I just go and buy one from Supercrap.

Get the pouring spout that clamps onto the top of the Jerry Can.
Fairly common item but don't ask me where to find one.
Occasionly on fleabay or a member on here might have an extra.

If you don't have the goose neck you can still fill from a Jerry.
Hold the can on an angle with the nozzle resting on the filling neck.
Slowly lift without creating a liquid seal and glugging.
A lille more strain and time but doable.
Kind Regards, Barefoot Dave.

Get a jiggler self priming siphon hose.  You sit the jerry can up on the gal capping and jiggle away on the tube until it starts the siphon, and then fill the tank.  No hassle holding the can up in the air while it fills.

You can find them at decent hardware stores.

Solved the problem - got both! The jiggle hose works well when you put the jerry can on the FFR aerial mount and is faster than the flexible steel filler tube. I also got a new jerry can rubber seal to fix a leaking can too. Tick that whole thing off the list for good.
