I'm probably a lucky one though. Some vehicles don't even come with a book.
Greg Mac.
I don't know if I'm lucky or unlucky.
As some know I purchased 48-852 from the October Minto Auction, it was the cheapest final bid of the month from all sites.
Yes it was missing a roof rack, tarp, broken interior clear lens, broken rear convoy lamp and damaged RHS front mudguard. Most unfortunately it didn't have a logbook.
HoweverIt seems that it has a new crate engine, probably fitted in Feb 2014 when all the filters were changed, it has a brand new front axle assembly still with the manufacturer stickers, new gearbox mounts and one of the tightest 4 speed boxes I have ever driven. I believe that this vehicle had a major drivetrain overhaul in 2014. If that information was available in the logbook, I'm sure the price would have been much higher.
The downside is I can only guess it was allocated to 8/12 Medium Regiment RAA because of the unit serials on the holders and the signs left in the door pocket, but have no idea what the bird device on the doors represents.
