Key less ignition for Perentie
« on: October 12, 2014, 07:41:17 PM »
Hi there, I am after the key less ignition or push button ignition so I can remove my key barrel and put it in the rear door of my carry all.

Postage will be to NZ, so name your price!

Cheers,

BadCo

Hi, I will check if I still have mine, you can have it just pay postage if I find it. I will update tomorrow about the same time to let you know if I do have it.
Cheers

That would be great thanks, I figured there must be dozens laying around in sheds across Australia from all the ignition keys installed.

Just to tangent for a minute.

I wonder how many people think the "keyless Ignition" is more than it is?

Most modern vehicles with keyless ignition have a digital remote mechanism that allows the the engine to be started by the push button. The Perentie is just the lack of any security.  ;D

All my doors have locks but the rear door, so instead of buying another lock and having two different keys I figured I would take the ignition lock and put it in the back door and use the key less to start the truck.

I'm hoping this would work haha.

If you take the Ign barrel to an automotive locksmith, they can usually re-key the barrel to the same combination of tumblers as the door key.

The door keys are the same as the ignition key at the moment.

But that is good info I didn't know about. That means I can buy an additional key barrel and get it changed to my current keys and chuck it in the back door?

Yes you can.
Your ignition is on its way in any case.
