So, you know the owner?
Convince him to join the regular fora (if he's not already). It's a rare one. It is one of the few that had a PTO to drive a trailer. It was also one of the ones used in the film "The Longest Beach".

yes I know the owner.
He showed me some of the documentation he has for the truck, there was a very nice photo of the 4 units in front of the pyramids.
Very keen to have a look at on its way through.
He has an interesting collection of vehicles including 2 series 2 forward controls and a 6x6 ex police bomb disposal 110.
I'll pass the word on the forum to see if he wants to tell the story

Is he the fellow who bought the two series FC's in Romsey?

not sure about Romsey.
He has just passed through, very nice truck and he dropped off a copy of the widest beach in the world, great watching!
It will be a while before it will be on the road but it will be worth the wait.

It'd be a great one to display if it was restored to as it was in the film.

Thanks for the pic.  I saw the add on ebay but I did notice there were no current photos (or any from Aust) so assumed it was not nearly as good as the restored pics.

Looks a little rough in your pic but what is its mechanical condition like.

From the pic and given its history I think the new buyer got it for a reasonable price and should be very happy with it.  With its history it does need to go back to the livery it had doing the Sahara trip.

Cheers

Garry
